Your My Business listing not only will appear whenever any searches for your business on Google but it will also appear in the Google Map listings when somebody searches in your area.

Many think that this is only beneficial to local and small business but major worldwide corporations can also use these listings to show potential customers branches in their local area.
With the increasing growth of companies furthering their online presence there is more competition than ever for the tops spots in these listings so the earlier you can have your site set up with this the better.

Creating a Google Account
The first step of the process is to create a Google account. This can be created either as an individual or as a business account, whichever you prefer. The first step is to go to https://www.google.co.uk and press the sign in button in the top right hand corner that will bring up the following screen.
Work your way through the form filling in all of the fields. Once this is complete press the next step button which will bring up Google’s Privacy and Terms page, once you have read through this then click on Agree. You will then be asked to verify the phone number you have supplied. This can be verified via either a phone call or a text message.
Once you have completed the verification process, you will then be taken to a welcome screen, you can press continue on this screen to move onto the next step.
Setting Up your My Business Page
Now you have successfully created your Google Account, the next step in to go to the My Business section of Google. The quickest way to do this is to type ‘Google My Business’ into the Google search bar in the middle of the screen. Then click on the ‘Free Business Listing On Google’ result that appears on the screen.
You will now have been taken to the Google My Business homepage. From here click on the Get on Google button.
This will take you to a search screen which allows you to check to see if Google already has any information on your business or is a listing has been previously set up. Just type your business name into the search bar and suggested business names will appear. Press on the search button and it will bring up some suggested companies. If your company is not already listed you then can click on the ‘None of these match Add your business’ option to be taken to the business page creation page.
You will then be presented with the following screen
Work your way through the form filling in all of the fields. Once this is complete press continue to move onto the next step. You will then be asked to verify the information provided. Once you have verified this information you will be taken to the following screen.
This is another verification screen, however this is different as it will mail a postcard to the address you have entered to verify that the business does actually exist at this location. You can press the verify later option but we would recommend completing this verification step as soon as possible, Google will not publish your page until this verification is completed. Postcards normally take up to 7 working days to arrive.
When your postcard does arrive you can enter the code provided via the verify now button which appears on the admin homepage.
The Google My Business Admin Screen
You can now populate your Google My Business page. You can add your company logo, product images, office images, add a virtual tour of your business, add business opening hours, your company’s website a short description about your company to your listing.
We would advise you to put as much information as possible on your Google My Business listing to help bring as many potential customers as possible to it.
There you have it your company now has its very own Google My Business listing.
